The Chancel Restoration Project is complete!
All Saints' Churchwardens and PCC would like to acknowledge the huge level of support shown by the local community in getting this ambitious project completed on time and within budget. It is greatly appreciated. Many thanks to all.

December 2018
At the time of writing, mid December 2018, the year long Chancel Restoration Project is nearing completion, just in time for Christmas!
Local building firm, The Bucknall Partnership, have done a superb job and finished on time, ready for festive celebrations at Christmas. A lot of external work was undertaken during the early part of 2018 and then plenty of warm, sunny days in the summer helped the drying out process. The firm have returned during the autumn to complete the internal work and throughout this time, the local community have assisted and supported with generous charitable giving and fund-raising events organised by 'The Friends of All Saints' Church'.
The Chancel will be blessed at our Christmas Candlelight Carol Service held on Friday 21 December at 7.00pm. All welcome!
Update - September 2018
Good progress has been made during the summer on the restoration of our Chancel. All the exterior work on the rear, north wall has been completed and the builders, local firm, The Bucknall Partnership, have now moved more in sight, to the south wall! Once again, a lot of the old pointing needs to be raked out and then replaced with more appropriate lime mortar. The third and final phase will be to move inside and replaster (where necessary) and repaint the interior of the Chancel. The hot summer will have helped to dry out the walls and it is still hoped that all work will be completed by the end of the year. In the meantime, fund raising continues as the overall bill will be in the region of £25,00 - £30,000. We are most grateful for all donations received to date; anyone else who wishes to donate can do so by contacting one of the Churchwardens.
The visit of the Reunion Orchestra on Saturday 4 August, treated us to a lively mix of light classical music by this talented group of musicians. It was a lovely evening, and raised over £400 towards the Renovation fund.
All Saints Open Gardens
Despite a torrential downpour at about 1.30pm, the Open Gardens event went ahead as planned on 1st July and attracted about 60 people. Together with a lovely evening event at 'Poachers', a total profit of £681 was raised towards the Project for the Renovation of the Church Chancel. Many thanks to the owners of the ten gardens who so kindly participated. It was a hugely enjoyable community day.

Early June. The Bucknall Partnership have started work on the outside of the building, chiseling out the 'modern' concrete by hand to allow the walls to dry out before repointing using traditional lime mortar which will allow the buiding to 'breathe'.
They will also be refurbishing the guttering and downpipes.

The successful Village Quiz held on Saturday 21 April raised £800 towards the project. Thank you all who who came along and contributed.
Thank you to the Devon Historic Churches Trust which has granted us £2,500.

Here is the church looking at it's best at Easter 2018
But up in the chancel it didn't look so good.
All Saints' PCC has identified the need to undertake major renovation work on the Chancel. Sadly, over a period of time, water has seeped in and now both external and internal renovation work is badly needed. The longer this is left, the worse the damage will be.
Local builders, The Bucknall Partnership from Colyton, who specialise in churches, have been appointed to undertake this work which will be done in three phases. Firstly exterior work to the north and south walls will be done, starting around Easter time. This will include renovation of the cast iron guttering and repointing the walls. Then the building will be left to dry out during the summer months. In the autumn, the interior will be replastered and redecorated with the aim of trying to complete all the work this year.
Obviously work on this scale will cost a lot of money, a total in the region of £25,000, but will be a 'one-off' expense to save the fabric of our lovely and much-loved village church. 'Friends of All Saints' Church' will be leading the fund raising.

The PCC is always most appreciative of the wonderful support locally given to keep our church alive in our village and we look forward to working with you throughout this year.
