The Home Communion Group was reformed in June 2017 and is a dedicated group of Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) taking Holy Communion to the housebound.
Our ministry is to take Holy Communion to those who cannot get to church to receive it. The Eucharistic elements that we take have been consecrated at a church service and carried into homes by trained and authorised LEMs.
In addition to the home communicants, monthly Holy Communion is taken to three of the town’s Care Homes. This is proving such an effective way of working that our ministry of support for the housebound and those unable to attend church is growing. Small groups are meeting together to share Holy Communion, to listen to scripture and to pray.
We are liaising with Axminster Churches Together (ACT), who take monthly worship services in all the Homes, to incorporate Holy Communion into their acts of worship for those who would like it, in those Homes not yet covered by our Home Communion Group.
If anyone knows of someone who would like to receive Holy Communion at home please contact Prue Russell (01297 4446640) or email us via the Contact page.
