Our town has at its heart and centre the Minster Church - a glorious building with traditions and heritage going back hundreds of years. As with most churches, the Minster has been enhanced many times to meet the needs of its community and worship styles, and the growing population of Axminster and its surrounds. As you may be aware, we are looking to improve the facilities at the Minster for our congregations, and all the community users of the Church for concerts and events.
Everyone loves the Church, but it is not a museum, rather it is a living centre of worship, prayer, study, music and activity. To continue to meet the needs of the community today and into the future we have now reached a time where significant modernisation and upgrading is essential.
Our church is regularly used by hundreds of people each week, and we want to see it become an even greater hub of activity in the town. In order to make your church accessible and welcoming, there are a number of improvements and developments being planned:

Our church is regularly used by hundreds of people each week, and we want to see it become an even greater hub of activity in the town. In order to make your church accessible and welcoming, there are a number of improvements and developments being planned:
- we need to provide accessible toilet facilities
- we need to provide modern servery facilities
- we need flexibility in seating and the use of space
- we need the provision of dedicated storage space
- we need space for childrens’ activities
- we need to improve the lighting in the body of the church
- we need to upgrade the heating and heat retention/insulation
- we need to build in access to new technologies
- we need to improve facilities for those with a range of special needs
- we need to provide secure, fire resistant library/paper storage facilities
- we need meeting space/facilities apart from the main service area
- we need accessible, adaptable, high quality sound/audio/visual systems
- we need to make the Minster secure from damage and vandalism
- we need to have a church of which the community feels proud
We love our church, but it is not a museum.
The Minster stands at the heart of the town
and it needs to be a usable community space.
Come and hear about the changes we would like to make and give your thoughts on how the Minster should develop.
